A Tasmanian Country Treasure

Boilup

If we knew then that picking the name “Boilup” out of a hat was in fact going to be the least of our worries, we certainly were in for the whirlwind ride that is Music.
In 2009 six inexperienced cousins crammed into our fathers small homemade studio, instant excitement ran through our veins as the music flowed freely with pure joy and with the help of a couple of friends added to that mix, our band had formed. Our seven band members are drawn from across the Tasman and throughout the Pacific, bringing together a mixture of cultural backgrounds and musical experiences. With a strong emphasis on family, Boilup are a tight knit unit which reflects in the energy, enthusiasm and love for the music we generate on stage.
Influenced by the musical genius of Bob Marley, Katchafire, Kora, Bruno Mars, Amy Winehouse and many more, a blend of soul moving Island style/ Rhythm and Blues / Reggae and Hip Hop are fused to create the unique sound that Boilup portray today.
We are extremely excited to be a part of “A day at the Creek” for the third time running, a beautiful atmosphere combined with the warm and friendly welcome we have been given by the community has certainly inspired us over the years. So thank you Molecreek… One Love!!

Formed in 2008 playing 90’s grunge/rock covers, Since then 3LD has moved on to being an original band whilst still throwing a few covers into their sets. The music they write is aimed at a younger audience but with some reactions from the older generations it is more of a mainstream sound.
With influences such as Tool, Nirvana, Foo Fighters and Three days grace just to name a few, The band has brought together the defining sounds of each genre and created a 21st century style of alternative rock.
Since 2010 they’ve played gigs around the state, Brisbane Hotel (Hobart), The Royal Oak Hotel (Launceston), Mole Creek Hotel (A.D.A.T.C), Sheffield Hotel, Forth Hotel and several birthdays.

Gina Timms
Powerful, dynamic and entertaining are just a few words to describe this Tasmanian-born country singer. That petite package born 40 years ago has become the one and only Gina Timms, now living back in Tassie following a lengthy stay interstate after the birth of her children, Jakeb and Samuel. When her sons were born Gina scaled down her appearances to concentrate on motherhood.
Now with a new CD, It’s Time, about to be unleashed on an unsuspecting public, Gina Timms is well and truly back on the road – and coming to a venue near you.
Juggling motherhood and live performances is no problem for Tasmania’s Barnardos Mother of the Year 2007. It’s all about multi-tasking and organisation – something every mum knows only too well.
Gina Timms is a barrel of laughs in more ways than one. That big voice of hers can turn heads – and then there’s the rest of the package. No performance is half-hearted. Gina gives her all – and there’s a lot of love to give with this amazing entertainer.
She’s a five-foot human dynamo on stage, whose theme song, Texas (When I Die) has brought the house down at many a show during her regular Tamworth Country Music Festival appearances.
You’ve probably caught her act around Tamworth or watched Gina in action hosting the annual Ladies of Country Show at Wests, or as chief judge of the Aristocrat Country Entertainer of the Year, held at Wests each January.

Regan Tucker
Australia Country Music Artist
Singing, recording and producing a CD of songs is the reality of a dream I have had for over 20 years. I have always been a farmer working the land. I have worked on farms in New Zealand and also in Australia. I now manage my own farm in Tasmania, Australia.
I have always spent a lot of time singing to myself around the farm. It was always a dream of mine that one day I would produce a CD singing my favourite country songs by my favourite country artists.
My CD The River is a 20 year dream come true.

“Tally-ho Algy”

Tally-Ho Algy, is a 5 piece pub rock band formed around six months ago. The name originates from a saying of Captain James Bigglesworth the First and Second World War fighter pilot hero made popular by Captain W.E. Johns in his famous boys novels narrating the adventures of Biggles and his mates. “Algy” was “Biggles” cousin Algernon Lacey and wing-man. When about to engage the “Bosch” Biggles would announce “Tally-Ho Algy!”
Its origin is a 4 piece soft rock band originally consolidated from 3 Westbury members Karen Fairweather, Lee Slaughter and Johnny Chester. They were joined by Rex Mansfield (ex Dragon) from Deloraine on percussion, following the departure of the original drummer Cameron Keegan. This band was known as Fairweather Friends and played both locally and in Launceston at gigs and parties.
Lee and Cameron both left for personal reasons and were replaced by Rex, and Eric Ollier on bass. 6 months ago FF was joined by Leslie (Roxy) Dobell and attained a harder edge with 2 guitars often combined in interesting harmony.
It has been noted by patrons that part of the appeal of the band is that all their material from the ‘60s to present day is comprised of recognisable classic rock songs. It includes old R and B classics, Beatles and Stones classics, some punk and then more contemporary tunes which grab the attention of younger fans. Some Aussie classics even find their way into the repertoire.
The current line-up is:
Karen Fairweather – vocals and percussion
“Roxy” Dobell – guitar and backing vocals
Johnny Cester – guitar and vocals
Eric Ollier – bass and backing vocals
Rex “Rexy” Mansfield – percussion and vocals

We hope you enjoy this material – we certainly enjoy playing it!
